Rubber Ducky Baby Shower

One of my good friends was pregnant for the first time and I hosted her baby shower.  I picked rubber duckies as the theme and then tried to have it flow throughout the party.  The colors for the party - pink and yellow.

For the cake i baked about 4 layers (although 2 layers came out pretty flat).  Two chocolate (from store bought mix) and two peanut butter (from allrecipes) with peanut butter frosting (from allrecipes).  I stacked the layers alternating between peanut butter and chocolate and frosted between each layer and around the cake.  I then surrounded the cake with chocolate covered wafer cookies to look like a barrel.  On the top of the cake i used store bought white frosting and colored it with blue food coloring (a mix of lighter and darker frosting to give the water depth).  I coated the top of the cake with the blue water frosting.  I used fondant to create the towel, letters, and bar of soap.  The "rubber duckies" were actually chocolate ducks i found at the dollar store (it was just before Easter so score for me!).  The base of the cake is actually rice krispie treats covered in green colored frosting with green sugar sprinkled on top.

The Baby Shower Spread
I got the rubber ducky banner on Etsy from Rock Paper Scissors (i LOVE Etsy).  The cake tower I bought a standard one at JoAnn's Fabric Store and then wrapped cute ducky ribbon around the edge to have it match the decor.

Cupcake Tower and Framed Sign
To enhance the table I used picture frames I already had and printed out cute sayings about babies (free printables online) to place inside the frames.  I also bought dollar store table cloths and dollar store pink and yellow plates and napkins.

Baby Stroller Fruit Bowl
The Baby Stroller was actually easier than i thought it would be.  I found a tutorial online and cut it to look like a stroller, hallowed out the inside with a melon baller, used cut orange slices and grapes kept stuck on by tooth picks.  It came out quite nice if i do say so myself!

The beginnings of German Chocolate Cake Balls.

Carrot Cake Balls and German Chocolate Cake Balls
For the favors i bought them online on Etsy from 4 All Occasions Favors.  They were bars of soap made to look like rubber duckies in yellow and pink.  The woman who made them did the labels too.  Again here is a frame with a cute printable i found online.

Cupcakes!
Not pictured were rubber ducky invitations designed on Etsy (although she's no longer on Etsy) and then printed at Staples.  Also not pictured was a punch bowl made to look like rubbery duckies in a bath similar to this.

German Chocolate Cake Balls before the chocolate
I used store bought cake mix and frosting - super easy!  Just google it for a how-to.  Basically bake the cake, then smash it up and add frosting.  Mix the frosting in and roll into balls.  Freeze the balls, melt some chocolate (white chocolate is easy to color pink and yellow) and dip the balls into the chocolate.  You can then sprinkle with sprinkles for some flare!  I did carrot cake and German chocolate but because i wanted a variety i used half of the mix to make cake for cake balls and the other half for cupcakes.
